Meditation does seem to be getting easier (it’s the waxing moon you know) and I’m wondering about extending my morning meditation out to forty minutes. But it’s always easier towards the full moon. And it’s especially easier during the major ones.
Some celebrate the full moon at this time of year as the Festival of Humanity. This is the festival dedicated to the expression of right human relations. It is a day whereon the spiritual and divine nature of mankind is recognised. It is said that on this Festival for two thousand years Maitreya (in the picture) has recited the The Diamond Sutra before the assembled arhats. This is, therefore, a Festival of deep invocation and appeal, of a basic aspiration towards fellowship, of human and spiritual unity.
Personally I love the Diamond Sutra; it was what attracted me to Budddhism. It might be worth celebrating this one.
