This morning in dhyana I tried just waiting for the mind to show itself. Perhaps that would work. I thought that if I could finally just see it as it is then perhaps I would get somewhere, but maybe all it’s about is no special way of seeing but just continual practice. Perhaps that too is a distraction.
This might be because I’ve decided to introduce a koan, not into the morning sitting or into the evening Metta Bhavana, but as a separate exercise: what is the essence of mind? I’ll see where that takes me.
And I’m reminded that I shouldn’t get obsessed with this. Lightly does it.
