Ode to the Feijoa
sun’s kiss
pink eyelids
ripe feijoas
leafy shade
haunting wasps
burst fruit
fills nose
sparkles tongue
bird song
tickles ears
earth’s embrace
haiku
steaming tarseal roads –
a hot, summer rain reveals
a drain’s secret smells

haiku
in a feijoa
orchard, birds are singing – ripe
fruit lies on the grass
haiku
swarming ants gather
sap – a pile of wood under
an old tin cover
zen
writing poetry –
counting breaths
haiku
harp seals at play –
a glacier breaks apart
in an arctic bay
